Aronia melanocarpa Viking
Aronia melanocarpa 'Viking' also known as Purple Chokeberry 'Viking' is an upright branched shrub with oval, dark green, glossy leaves, which are hairy beneath and turn orange, purple and red in autumn before falling. This non-evergreen shrub bears clusters of white, sometimes pink-tinged flowers in late spring, followed by round, purple-black, edible, sour fruits which are ready for picking in late summer and early autumn. This versatile shrub is ideal for beds and borders, city, cottage, informal, low maintenance gardens and is very attractive to wildlife, especially birds.
