Ilex aquifolium 'Myrtifolia Aurea Maculata' or Holly 'Myrtifolia Aurea Maculata' is a slow growing, evergreen shrub of a dense, compact habit with purple young stems and dark green, small, evenly spined leaves that are dark green with a pale green shading and a splash of gold and white flowers during the spring and summer. Occasionally green shoots will appear, these should be removed to ensure the continuity of the gold margined leaves. This easy to grow shrub is ideal planted as a specimen or within a mixed border to create an architectural feature and can be used as hedging.
