Ilex aquifolium Ferox Aurea

Ilex aquifolium 'Ferox Aurea' also known as the golden hedgehog holly has very prickly edged, curled green leaves with gold margins, that also have a row of spines down the centre of each one. This male variety of Ilex produces small white flowers during the spring and is a perfect companion to plant alongside or nearby a female to ensure a good crop of red berries which the birds adore. This easy to grow shrub is ideal planted as a specimen or within a mixed border to create an architectural feature and can be used as hedging.
