Salix fargesii

Salix fargesii also known as Farges Willow is a wide spreading, non-evergreen shrub with glossy, reddish-brown stems bearing bright red buds in autumn and oblong, toothed, dark green leaves which are silky beneath and bronze when young.

Slender green catkins are borne in spring and can measure up to 12cm on a male and 18cm on a female form.

How to grow

This low maintenance shrub is loved by wildlife and would grow very well by a pond or can be used as hedging or providing a screen within the garden.
