Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit' also known as the smoke bush is a medium sized, bushy shrub with round, golden yellow leaves that turn orange-red in autumn and plumes of smoky-white flowers in summer and autumn, that resemble clouds of smoke from a distance, hence the name 'smoke bush'. This very striking, non-evergreen shrub would look lovely planted within a mixed border or bed albeit in a cottage or informal garden in full sun or partial shade and can also be useful for flower arranging.
