Clematis x cartmanii 'Joe' is a slow growing, evergreen climber with finely cut, dark green, leathery leaves, panicles of small white flowers with white and yellow centres during April. This compact, trailing, evergreen climber is best grown in full sun or part shade with shelter, ideally in a cold greenhouse or conservatory.

Clematis x cartmanii 'Joe' was raised by Margaret and Henry Taylor of Invergowrie, Scotland, after a seed was sent by Joe Cartman, Christchurch, New Zealand. It was sown on 30th June 1983.
