Clematis Ernest Markham

Clematis, 'Ernest Markham' produces stunning, bold rich red-purple flowers from July to October.

This non-evergreen climber can be grown against a trellis, garden fence, wall, arches, pillars, pergolas, clambering over tree stumps and through large shrubs or planted in a container trained up bamboo canes or an obelisk.

This Clematis was raised by Ernest Markham, head gardener at Gravetye Manor and named by Rowland Jackman of George Jackman and Son, in December 1937, after Markham's death.
